Wave goodbye to Berlin as we set off for Dresden. Known as the ‘Florence of the Elbe,’ Dresden’s Christmas Market is Germany’s oldest. Wander through stalls filled with traditional crafts and indulge in the city’s culinary delights, such as Dresden Stollen, a local Christmas bread.
Next, we head to Leipzig, a city that boasts a rich musical history. After a guided tour of the city’s key landmarks, you’ll have free time to explore the Leipzig Christmas Market, which dates back to the 15th century. Don’t miss the chance to taste Lebkuchen, the city’s famed gingerbread.
Our journey continues to Nuremberg, home to one of the most famous Christmas Markets in the world. After a city tour, you’ll have the afternoon to explore the Christkindlesmarkt, where you can try Nuremberg’s famous bratwurst and sip on mulled wine.
We then proceed to Rothenburg ob der Tauber, a town that looks like it’s straight out of a fairy tale. Here, you’ll visit the German Christmas Museum and have time to explore the Reiterlesmarkt, a market that has been a local tradition since the 15th century.
Augsburg is our next stop, a city that hosts the Augsburger Christkindlesmarkt. After a guided tour, you’ll have the rest of the day to explore. Be sure to catch the “Angel Play” performed daily on the Town Hall’s outdoor staircase.
Finally, we arrive in Munich. The city’s Christmas Market in Marienplatz is a feast for the senses. After a guided tour of Munich’s iconic landmarks, the afternoon is yours to explore the market, where you can buy last-minute gifts or simply enjoy the festive atmosphere.
